Description
Do you run the other way when you hear the word IMPROVISATION?
Does the thought of playing a melody without having any notes in front of you (gasp!) terrify you?
Well, join the club!
We understand your anxiety! Many students feel that improvising is not only frightening but also simply out of reach.
Contrary to popular belief, improvising is not actually that hard to learn AND it also has many benefits, such as:
- Refining your aural skills
- Increasing your sightreading-abilities
- Boosting your memory
- Enhancing your performance skills
- Gaining a sense of musical freedom
- The fun factor!
Despite these benefits, many of you may still feel terrified of improvisation.
To help you overcome the fear of improvising, you need a method that you know will work when you need it. Something foolproof that’s easy to learn and easy to apply.
Tatiana shares some of her own tried-and-tested methods and easy-to-use approaches in this Improvisation Workshop. This is a replay of a live workshop that took place in June of 2023. By signing up you will get instant, lifetime access to the recording of this event and have the opportunity to:
- Watch and learn from this fun, interactive session
- Learn a fail-proof method that will help you to improvise in no time
- Get access to practice resources and play-along tracks
- Learn a bunch of fun exercises to take into your practice room
Normally, two hours of flute lessons could cost you up to $150.
But since it’s important to us here at The Flute Practice to give you an affordable way to really kick-start your improvisation skills in a practical and tangible way, we are offering you access to this groundbreaking workshop for just $45.

What is a workshop replay?
We host live workshops every few weeks here at The Flute Practice. These workshops are either taught by Tatiana or one of our other in-house or guest teachers. Since we know these workshops offer so much value, we upload to our platform so that anyone who missed the workshop can continue to benefit from them.
What level is this workshop for?
Flutists of all levels are welcome, it is never too early or too late to learn more about breathing! But, this workshop is suited better to adult players as there is a fair amount of detail taught in a way that is specifically designed to engage our adult students.
Sign up now and….. discover the power of your breath!

As a developing/early intermediate flutist, I learned so much about familiar and new scales (pentatonic, blues) and when to use them. In this workshop Tatiana breaks down improv into easily understandable and digestible information and encourages us all to “let go” by finding our inner curious, uninhibited child. These are techniques I will incorporate into my practice routine, and I have no doubt my musicianship will improve because of it. This was a really fun “no pressure” workshop that I would recommend to any musician who hasn’t been exposed to improv.

I found the workshop quite on the elementary side. I was really hoping for more, including live participation. I must say that I did enjoy the last 20 min., however, when the blues scale was introduced.
Having the 2 hrs. to work with, and the few participants present, I would have hoped to have live attempts from each of us at improvising, with feedback from Tatiana as to how to do it better. I don’t know if there is a more advanced workshop on improvisation (not that I know how to improvise, I am a beginner at this!), but perhaps after some guidelines, 2 min. of improvisation from each participant + feedback would make us learn and move to the next guidelines and new 2 min. attempts, etc.
I believe that I had something different in mind, as I did perceive that others were enjoying the workshop.
